Google Calendar Notification Chatbot

Overview

Zoom’s Google Calendar Notification Chatbot allows you to receive Zoom chat notifications and messages from a chatbot relating to updates and changes from your Google Calendar.

Prerequisites

  • Free or paid Zoom account
  • A Google account
  • Pre-approval of the Google Calendar Notification app in the Zoom Marketplace
    Note: If the app is not pre-approved, please contact your Zoom admin.

Installation and Configuration

Installing from the Zoom Marketplace

  1. Login to your Zoom account and navigate to the Zoom Marketplace.
  2. Search for Google Calendar Notification and click on the app.
  3. If the app is not pre-approved, please contact your Zoom admin to approve the app for your account.
  4. Click Install, confirm the permissions the app requires, and choose Allow.
  5. You will then be redirected to Google to authenticate your Google Account and authorize Zoom. Once completed, you will return to the Configuration page.

Configuring the Google Calendar Notification

  1. After installing the app from the Marketplace, you will be redirected to the Google Calendar Subscription page.
  2. Click Authenticate with your Google Calendar account.

  3. Choose your Google account to receive notifications from, confirm the permissions and choose Allow.
  4. Give the subscription a Name, pick what Channel you would like to add the chatbot to, and a Description.
    Note: If you would like to receive notifications directly from the Chatbot choose the Your Contact option.

  5. Fill out the Google Calendar Configurations:
    Calendar Source: Choose the calendar that you want to receive notifications from. This is typically your own calendar.
    Reminders: Choose when to receive reminders.
    Calendar Updates: Choose what type of updates trigger a notification from the Zoom Chatbot.
    Summary of events: Choose to receive either a daily or weekly summary of your events.

  6. Once complete, select Save Configuration. You will now receive chat messages on Zoom based on your configuration.

Interacting with the Google Calendar Notification Chatbot

You will begin to receive chat notifications when the Google Calendar Notification subscription is triggered. These will be mapped to the selected Zoom Channel configured for the subscription. When you receive a new notification, it will look like this:

You can also try interacting with the chatbot in a 1:1 chat. Simply type and send help to receive a list of possible commands.

Removing the Google Calendar Notification Chatbot

  1. Login to your Zoom account and navigate to the Zoom Marketplace.
  2. Search for Google Calendar Notification and click the app or navigate to your installed apps via Manage > Installed Apps.
  3. Click Uninstall next to Google Calendar Notification.
  4. Confirm the dialogue and click Uninstall.
